2019 & 2020 EE0-1 Data Collection

The Employer Information Report EEO-1 Component 1, or the EEO-1 Component 1 Report, will begin data collection on April 26, 2021. Organizations can file their information through the new EEO-1 Component 1 Online Filing System when the data collection opens. The deadline to submit EEO-1 Component 1 data is July 19, 2021.

The 2019 & 2020 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection will open Monday April 26, 2021. The data collection deadline is Monday July 19, 2021. A notification letter with additional instructions will be sent to employers in mid-April.

Please contact the EEO-1 Component 1 Filer Support Team if you need to report a contact change, or if your company has experienced any acquisitions, spinoffs, or mergers that occurred between January 2019 and December 2020.

Who Must File

The following companies are required to file the EEO-1 Component 1 Report annually:

  1. Private employers who are subject to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act with 100 or more employees.
  2. Private employers subject to Title VII affiliated through common ownership and/or centralized management with other entities in an enterprise with a total employment of 100 or more.
  3. Federal government prime contractors or first-tier subcontractors subject to Executive Order 11246, as amended who are not exempt as provided for by 41 CFR 60-1.5, with both 50 or more employees and a prime contract or first-tier subcontract amounting to $50,000 or more.
  4. Employers that serve as a depository of Government funds in any amount or as a financial institution which is an issuing and paying agent for U.S. Savings Bonds and Savings Notes and have 50 or more employees.

Only those establishments located in the District of Columbia and the 50 states are required to submit an EEO-1 Component 1 Report. No reports should be filed for establishments in Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, or other American Protectorates.

State and local governments, public primary and secondary school systems, institutions of higher education, American Indian or Alaska Native tribes and tax-exempt private membership clubs other than labor organizations are also exempt from the EEO-1 Component 1 Report. However, non-profits and not for profit organizations are required to file the EEO-1 Component 1 Report.

What will I need?

  • Company ID and passcode (provided via U.S. mail for previous filers or at registration for new filers)
  • Company EIN, NAICS Codes, and DUNS Number
  • Address and EINs of all establishment locations
  • Count of all full and part-time employees during the workforce snapshot pay period selected by the employer
  • Sex and race/ethnicity of all employees
  • Job categories of all employees

Previous Filers

Previous filers will receive their company's annual notification letter by U.S. mail. The letter will include your company ID and passcode, which are required to create your company’s account in the new Online Filing System. All companies will need to create an account in the EEO-1 Component 1 Online Filing System.

Important Reminders

On April 26, 2021, eligible companies will be required to first file and certify the 2019 EEO-1 Component 1 Report, then file and certify the 2020 EEO-1 Component 1 Report after the 2019 report is submitted.

Companies must file the EEO-1 Component 1 Report for 2019 and 2020 if they were in business and met the filing requirements for that year. In the EEO-1 Component 1 Online Filing System, you will certify your 2019 filing first. If you were not eligible in 2019, you will need to certify that you were ineligible before filing your 2020 EEO-1 report. If you were not eligible in 2020, you will need to file you 2019 EEO-1 report first then certify that you were ineligible in 2020.

Companies must report acquisitions, mergers, and spinoffs that occurred between January 2019 and December 2020 to the EEO-1 Component 1 Filer Support Team prior to proceeding with filing. Companies reporting an acquisition, merger or spinoff can contact the EEO-1 Component 1 Filer Support Team.

Save a PDF copy of your company's EEO-1 Component 1 Report as soon as the Report has been submitted and certified.
